I got something cookin’!

Oh, I can’t wait to share! But it’s a project that is out of my hands, so I have to wait to tell you. I have always been horrible about keeping a secret. Not that I can’t be trusted with a confidential secret or something like that. The secrets I have a hard time keeping are things like a gift I can’t wait for you to enjoy or a particularly exciting piece of news. So this is as far as I can go; just a tease for something very cool coming up, so Stay tuned; it could be any day now.

As far as my progress on “Emergence Ascended” goes, The rewrite of chapter 42 is very satisfying, and I started chapter 43 with great momentum.   It’s hard to gauge because I don’t know what I am writing until I write it. However, I think chapter 44 will be the last. The fun stuff is over after that, and then there are edits and artwork for the cover. (I am in the market for an illustrator for the book cover, so if there is someone you like, send them my way.)

Now that I am getting close to completing this book, I have to resist the urge to start my next one. My attention deficit disorder compels me to start a new project when I have enough of the last project done to be considered ‘close enough’ and then jump to the next. And that explains why I have hundreds of unfinished works. (to be fair, most are not good enough to finish.)

I want to thank  “Jolene,”  whoever you are, for Leaving a great review of “Emergence Collective’ on Amazon. It means more than I can say. Ratings and reviews help bring awareness to my books and to me, So I appreciate it sincerely.

Decisions decisions…

Remember, I’m still new to this writing thing. So sometimes I am reinventing the wheel or discovering a known thing (to the wizened writer). Every once in a while, I come to a fork in the road of the plot. I am a discovery writer, so as I am writing the story, I am making it up as I go. I have a mental road map about the direction the story will go. A rough idea about how it will end. I surprise even myself sometimes at how it is turning out, a new character I add to fill a gap might end up being integral to the plot as a whole and one I had not conceived of when I started writing.

So as it turns out, I again, have to come to a decision about what some characters are going to do. It’s not an issue with writer’s block, though I think it’s related a cousin, or uncle to writer’s block maybe. This has happened about 3 times in this story “Emergence Ascended,” and a few times in “Emergence Collective,” but the emergence collective one stumped me for a few months LOL. I write as I go, but I also think about the story as a whole when I am not writing (am I still a discovery writer?) In particular when an important scene (like the middle of the 3rd act). Someone I love has to die. Which of the bad guys deserve redemption? Am I supposed to pick up the dry cleaning? ( sorry that’s how my brain works and why it takes so long to write) I have a general idea how this book ends. but there are some situations that are almost interchangeable but will slightly alter my original idea (not that that is a bad thing) but which option will make the best, most satisfying end?

I had been quite productive in the last few weeks, I can feel the end coming and that has inspired me and that inspiration turned into an urgency. thing were smooth and flowing (I get that weird flow state when I write sometimes) well until now. I will reflect on who is going to die, who is worthy.

Audible update:Stasis

I bet you have wondered why I have not posted an Audible update lately. That project is on pause. It has been challenging to get clean recordings, and the amount of editing made the project bigger than it should have been. It is much work for a crappy outcome. OK, I was getting better at it. You can still listen on Spotify to my progress at narrating; the sound quality was also improving. (It was pretty cringy the first few episodes.)

So I was recording in my dining room; it is wide open to the kitchen and living room with vaulted ceilings, so everything echoes, and (5 cats) are noisier than they should be. So, I am waiting for a space to carve out for a permanent recording area. In the next few months, I should have a niche to call my own, and I will resume recording then.

In the meantime, I continue to chip away at Emergence Ascended, on chapter 30, with just over 50 thousand words, so I am nearing completion. I started my research on the ghost story I am writing next. I have been corresponding with a paranormal investigator group in the UK, so I look forward to some spooky tales to flesh out my insane idea. If you are or know a ghost hunter or paranormal investigator, send them my way!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog; feel free to leave a comment or drop a “Like” my way; I sincerely appreciate it.

So close I can taste it

I am making good progress on “Emergence Ascended” (the sequel to “Emergence Collective.”) I am getting close to the final chapters and I couldn’t be happier. I am working with an Artist, Nora Ravenhorn for some digital art. Here is an image of Serenity Gates, one of the characters in “Emergence Ascended” (click the picture for a link to her Facebook)

Ontological shock and the evolution of consensus reality.

As the covid pandemic started to chill out and the world was beginning to get back to normal, I wrote a post about a weird “feeling,” for lack of a better word. The feeling I had, began before the pandemic. I felt a strange sense of foreboding or unexplained anxiety.   And I could sense it in other people and the world a global precognition. There was a stress that I think everyone had but could not pinpoint exactly what was bothering them. (I believe it has contributed much to why society is so on edge today.) Now I am not suggesting that I am a psychic or a prophet or whatever; I just noticed the feeling before the pandemic, and when the pandemic hit, I felt that it was the reason for the subconscious anxiety. I wrote a blog post (or Twitter now X, or Instagram? I forget where I will look harder for it.) about the same, but a different sensation of anxiety I am feeling now. It is not as intense and not quite the feeling of dread; there is something.

IT IS NOT A PSYCHIC PREDICTION. Maybe. I’m on the fence about all that woo. But I feel that there is now, at this moment, a shift in the consensus reality of humanity. Specifically, the topic of UFOs (now UAP, I’m old school, so UFOs to me.) The congressional hearing on UAP recently released the Genie from the bottle to the general public. The admittance of the government that they are acknowledging their awareness of the phenomenon is pretty groundbreaking. Whether you believe it or not, it really doesn’t matter; now, people are experiencing a collective awareness of the subject in a different way than they had ever in the past. The topic is now given a legitimacy that it had never had before, Blowing people’s minds and making them question their beliefs about what was previously thought to be ‘known.’. That is an ontological shock.

I explored and played with the idea of the flexibility of consensus reality and how it can change in my book “Emergence Collective”. One example is the notion of ‘the Mandela effect.

The term “Mandela Effect” was first coined in 2009 by Fiona Broome when she created a website to detail her observance of the phenomenon. Broome was at a conference talking with other people about how she remembered the tragedy of former South African president Nelson Mandela’s death in a South African prison in the 1980s. However, Nelson Mandela did not die in the 1980s in a prison—he passed away in 2013. As Broome began to talk to other people about her memories, she learned that she was not alone. Others remembered seeing news coverage of his death as well as a speech by his widow.

OK moving on… In Emergence collective, I described a situation that had literal world-changing events, as the characters dabbled with abilities that allowed them to change the physical reality around them. In the Sequel (spoiler alert for those who plan on reading it) that is nearing completion, I continued the concept that things like urban legends like say, “A satanic cult summons a demon that lays waste to a community, then gets defeated, and all trace evidence of the battle and destruction was removed.” A generation later, humanity has all but forgotten that the event had occurred because consensus reality healed the scar from the people’s consciousnesses. So I have been exploring these ideas of what the nature of reality is. More to the point that WE, humans, our consciousness is the reality, and the world is a reaction to us, not the other way around. We are creating our universe as we explore it.

Where am I going with all this? I do have a point. With the evolution of our worldview, I believe the consensus reality is changing. I have noticed that recently (in the last few months.) There has started to be a literal clarity in photographs and video evidence of UFOs. In the past, every picture was fuzzy, but now, more and more photos are increasingly clear and more credible. After the Hearing on UAP there is a surge of high-quality images. I think that there is a link to the paradigm shift. As we all start to explore and contemplate the reality of UAP’s existence, we can see more evidence. We are changing reality.

Now back to my “feeling” I have. I believe our world will be changed in ways that we can barely comprehend now in the near future. All our wildest science fiction fever dreams are going to come true, from Alien visitation to teleportation and star wars like technology.

Some side notes, Yes, camera technology has improved, so there is that. But the awareness is increasing, and people are less afraid of the stigma the topic has had in the past. Bigfoot photos are also less fuzzy. (just saying) But I think it is less and effect of our current optic tech that is improving but the willingness to believe. So you know, I do not ‘believe’ in the UAP phenomenon as I am a witness on two different occasions. I know what I saw, it was nuts and bolts craft. Now the rest of the world is catching up.

Karma, attachments, and attraction

I have mentioned in previous posts that when I am writing (or drawing), I create rule sets to maintain continuity in the world I am building (or the picture I am drawing, a style is a rule set for me). In Emergence collective and its sequel Emergence Ascended, there are rules to the world that may not be spelled out in the story. It’s mostly for me to keep the story’s vibe the same throughout. I tend to be scattered, and ADD doesn’t help, so the rules are a coping mechanism to keep things straight in my scrambled egg brain.

In the Emergence world, I have several seemingly unrelated philosophies that guide the story. Remember that I am not a shaman, Guru, or theoretical physicist, so the crap I come up with may or may not coincide with actual science, religious or spiritual facts, beliefs, or practices. It’s pure fiction. The framework for these stories is based on String theory and my imaginary connection to spiritualism, where vibrational energies are the heart of reality. In string theory, everything that exists comes from infinitesimal vibrating strings. When the strings vibrate at different wavelengths or frequencies, that defines the particular matter or energy and makes things like quarks, protons, atoms, molecules, etc. In some spiritual philosophies, the world(or reality) is also vibrational energy that governs things like love (positive vibrational energy) or hate (negative vibrational energy), whether you are healing or decaying in your spiritual self. Consciously or intentionally, maintaining a positive vibrational frequency (spiritually) will shine out and radiate love, light, and positivity that others will be attracted to. Conversely, suppose you are radiating a negative vibrational frequency. In that case, you will attract negative entities that thrive on those frequencies and encourage negativity in your life to reinforce the negative energy they are consuming.

Karma (in my world, though I don’t point it out expressly) is that convergence of positive and negative energy. To me, Karma isn’t a spiritual point system where if you do something good, you get points that you can cash in, in life or the afterlife. Or if you do something terrible, you will lose points, and maybe something bad will happen to you. In my rule set for my story, Karma is the balance of positive or negative vibrational frequencies. Like attracts like. If I keep vibrating in lower frequencies, those things that also reside there are attracted to me and vice versa. Doing “Bad things” (although a cultural distinction can be made for what is considered good or bad ) is merely a matter of vibrational patterns. Altruism is regarded as one of the higher frequencies, but your choice in how altruism is displayed can be a negative frequency, depending on your intention. If you help an old lady cross the road, for example, that is a good thing. But if you did it to be noticed doing it, so that whoever saw you doing the “Nice thing” will see you as a good or nice person; that act of altruism is corrupted by your selfish, negative need to be seen as being nice (Bad karma dude). It’s a slippery slope, and the balance of your spiritual frequencies is constantly wavering back and forth.

Ok I think I am rambling and none of this probably doesn’t make sense, but when I am writing the Emergence series, this stuff all plays its part in the back of my mind.

Thanks for reading! Leave me a comment or ask a question, there is extra Karma if you give me this a “Like”

Chapter snippet…

Chapter 33 of Emergence Ascended just a tease. Sadly the Audio gods are angry, and my plans of recording more chapters of Emergence ascended went the way of the Dodo (with fewer feathers.) Still in the plans I might try to squeeze it out after work, if I can fine a quiet space. I have been considering dropping chapters of Emergence Ascended right here. Any interest out there or should I wait for the book release?

Thanks for checking it out!

Switching gears

It’s been a great couple of weeks, with a quick vacation and a holiday weekend. I did not spend any time writing. I let myself get bored. Boredom is a very healthy state of being in my opinion. It makes your brain ooze creativity as it aches to do something, anything. So I let myself get bored, refilling the creativity, parts of my brain. I also switched gears from writing and spent a lot of time doing some laser engraving projects (As shown above). Now that things are going back to normal, I will start posting again and writing my WIP. I also plan on recording more chapters of “Emergence collective.” So if you have been following my Spotify, more episodes are coming soon (Sunday maybe)

Thanks for checking out my blog!

Whittling away at things

I am getting to the end of “Emergence Ascended” (my current WIP), the sequel to “Emergence Collective,” which is very exciting. I am probably the slowest writer in the world since I should have finished this book 6 months ago, but I am chipping away at it. It’s funny that while I am writing, I have to stop myself from daydreaming about the other stories in my head. I added a few more paragraphs to my short story Phantom Black (I’ll post that next), but also I am working out some details for my next book (no title yet). In the next book, I go back to my favorite Genre, Horror. It’s a ghost story, but there is a direction I am taking that requires a lot of moving pieces to work together all at once for the idea to make sense. I am also going to take a completely different approach to my writing. The dreaded outline. With some bonus pain, being character development prior to even starting. I had read somewhere about an approach to fleshing out characters by making a grid, in which each box in the grid describes a character trait or behavior and how those characters interact with each other. There is more to it, but that is the gist of it. I have some other character generation ideas that I am going to integrate into the new writing process too. Anyway, I have been having fun playing with the plot and character decisions with the ghost story instead of finishing my WIP. Oh, and some short story ideas.
