Emergence Ascended · writing

“Light bulb moment!” Gru.

So as I mentioned before, I have been stalling on Emergence Ascended. When I started, I had the gist of the story in my head from beginning to end (sort of). I had a rough map, at any rate. Sometimes I write myself into a corner or (as the reader is) wonder what will happen next (that’s where I need to be clever and creative), but sometimes I get stuck. There were a few possible plot directions I could go, but one way led to a problem, and the other leads to another issue. Trying to find the best possible solution without sounding derivative or a bland ending, I had to give it some serious thought.

Well, I had an epiphany. I had all the elements in place, but for some reason, my dumb brain took a minute to sort it out. I Passed the bumps in the road and am ready to finish the 3rd act. As I am primarily a discovery writer, I do not usually outline; I have an idea and go from there. But After my epiphany, I decided to jot it down to keep my thoughts in order. Maybe I am evolving my writing style.

Here is a question for the other writers out there. Have you ever written the end, last chapter, or whatever before you finished? Then connect the dots? How’d that go?

Thank you for checking out my blog; I love replying to comments, so feel free to say hi, and drop a like!

No plan survives contact with the enemy.

Its been a few days since I posted. Im currently doing training for work out of state and I thought I would have time to write some of the sequel, post in the blog daily and basically not miss a beat. Pro tip, Aerospace is complicated and training is intensive. Its literally rocket science, so you can get what Im saying. Lots of “homework ” and not much sleep, so everything I planned is out the door. I should be back to my regular routine Monday (but im not planning on it) lol

Emergence Collective · writing

Breaking news!

I am excited at least. I hope it is not too anticlimactic. I have the working title for the sequel to “Emergence Collective,” but as I get deeper into the story, the working title seemed to be the title. An organic fit.

I am officially announcing “Emergence, Ascended” as the sequel’s name. Coming… eventually. WIP right? Writing Emergence Collective took a long time, mostly because I shelved it for several years. I wrote myself into a plot hole corner, and it took a lot of contemplating to fix; then I became a dad, and that took over my life for a few years (it is easier now that I can sleep and he can wipe his own butt now). But once I got the ball rolling again,  the rest of the book went pretty fast. I am a slow writer (sometimes, sometimes I will blow through several thousand words and not even realize it.) then, I will just think about how I will braid the narrative into a coherent story.

Emergence, Ascended is going about that pace, but I am making steady progress, and I hope those out there are actually excited for the release (no date yet, sorry). If you are not excited yet, it’s because you haven’t read the first book. Aren’t you curious?
